SSB Head Constable Selection Process 2026
The selection for SSB Head Constable 2026 will be done through the following stages:
Stage 1 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) Candidates will be evaluated for physical fitness, stamina and minimum physical measurements (height, chest etc.). Only candidates who meet the prescribed physical standards will be allowed to proceed further.
Stage 2 – Written Examination Candidates who qualify PET/PST will appear for a written examination. The paper covers general awareness, reasoning, numerical ability and trade-specific knowledge.
Stage 3 – Skill Test / Typing Test For Head Constable (Communication) and ministerial posts, candidates must demonstrate typing speed of 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi. For Head Constable (Electrician), a skill test carrying 50 marks will be conducted (minimum qualifying marks: 60% for all categories). Skill test is qualifying in nature and marks will not be counted in the final merit list.
Stage 4 – Document Verification (DV) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME) Candidates shortlisted up to 3 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be called for document verification and detailed medical examination. Candidates declared unfit in DME may appeal for a Review Medical Examination (RME). The decision of the RME board will be final and no second appeal will be entertained.
Stage 5 – Final Selection The final selection list will be prepared in order of merit, category-wise, after completion of all stages including the Review Medical Examination.
