Educational Qualification for BFUHS Staff Nurse 2026
Candidates must fulfill all three of the following conditions to be eligible:
- Should have passed Senior Secondary Part-II Examination or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
- Should possess a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized university or institution.
- Should be registered with the Punjab Nursing Registration Council, established under the Punjab Nurses Registration Act, 1932.

Criteria of Recruitment / Selection Process
The selection for BFUHS Staff Nurse 2026 will be based on the following:

- Candidates must score a minimum of 33% marks in the written examination to be declared eligible.
- Candidates scoring less than 33% will be declared ineligible.
- Selection will be on the inter-se-merit of the written test and marks of experience, subject to the reservation prescribed by the Government of Punjab.
- In case two candidates obtain equal marks, preference will be given to the elder candidate.
- No extra weightage shall be given to candidates possessing higher qualifications.
Experience Marks
Experience marks will be awarded as per the Punjab Government, Department of Health and Family Welfare (Health-5 Branch) office order No. 1037633:HFW-HLH5021/161/2025-2H5/I/1329187/2026 dated 26-02-2026.
- Candidates who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic period (less than 1 year): 5 Marks
- Candidates who worked during COVID-19 pandemic period (more than 1 year): 10 Marks
The COVID-19 pandemic period for this purpose is considered from March 2020 to June 2021 only, during which Punjab was under lockdown.
Knowledge of Punjabi Language
- No person shall be appointed to any post unless he/she has passed Matriculation examination with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject or any equivalent examination.
- As per Punjab Government Notification No. GSR72/Const./Art.309/Amd.(22)/2022 dated 28.10.2022, a mandatory qualifying test of Punjabi Language (equivalent to Matriculation standard with at least 50% marks) will be conducted by the recruitment agency. Failure to secure a minimum of 50% in this test will disqualify the candidate from being considered in the final merit list.
Important Terms and Conditions
- Pay scales will be as per Punjab Health and Family Welfare Technical (Group ‘C’) Service (First Amendment) Rules, 2025 — Pay Scale: Rs. 29,200/-
- Reservation will be as per applicable Punjab Government Policy Guidelines. The number of posts in each category is provisional and can be increased or decreased.
- SC/BC category certificate must be in accordance with the instructions of the Department of Welfare Punjab.
- Candidates must select their category carefully. The category once selected/filled will not be changed under any circumstances. Wrong category selection will lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Ex-Serviceman LDESM/Grand Children of Gallantry Award Winners with Punjab domicile are eligible for ESM reservation, only if no Ex-Servicemen are available.
- Sports persons must have a Sports Gradation Certificate issued by the Director Sports, Punjab, as per the latest instructions.
- Qualification must be prior to the last date of filling applications.
- No TA/DA will be paid for journeys performed for the written test/counselling.
- Candidates applying for more than one post must apply separately along with the necessary fees.
- The certificate/diploma/degree issued by non-recognized institutions will not be considered and candidature will be declared ineligible.
- Certificates/degrees obtained through Distance Learning Education within India will not be considered.
- Candidates must score minimum 33% marks in the written test to be eligible.
- Mere qualifying the written examination will not entitle candidates for appointment until they produce a Police Verification Certificate and clearance of criminal charges.
- Government employees must be certified by the Head of the Department as not having any pending disciplinary proceedings.
