The State Selection Board (SSB), Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha has released the complete syllabus and exam pattern for the Junior Assistant and Junior Clerk Written Test and Computer Skill Test under Advertisement No. 01/2026. The selection is based on a two-stage process – a Written Test of 200 marks (100 MCQs, 2 hours, OMR-based) followed by a Computer Skill Test of 50 marks (1 hour, practical), totaling 250 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrong answer in the Written Test.

Shortlisting for Computer Skill Test: Based on Written Test performance, candidates will be shortlisted at 2 times the number of vacancies (category-wise and sub-category-wise including PwD) for the Computer Skill Test. Only those who meet the qualifying marks will be considered for shortlisting.

  • Connectors, Types of Sentences, Direct and Indirect Speech, Degrees of Comparison
  • Articles, Nouns, Adverbs, Adjectives, Prepositions
  • Reading Comprehension – Unseen passage (400–450 words) with vocabulary-based items

General Knowledge and Current Affairs – 40 Marks

  • Matching historical events with dates, personalities and places
  • Geographical facts with places
  • States, Countries and Institutions with Headquarters

  • Scientific facts and discoveries

Tie-Breaking Rules: In case of a tie in final marks, the aggregate percentage in Bachelor’s Degree will be considered first. If still tied, the candidate born earlier will be given preference.
